Social Networks

 

To date, the best way of keeping informed of events in Suva is largely through word of mouth or separate email networks.

 

The following list is some basic information of "what's out there" and it is advised that you ask to be on their (e)mailing list so you can be informed of their up-to-date events. Also check the Fiji Times for event details.

 

 

  • AWA American Women's Association is a social group getting together on a monthly basis to socialize and connect with others.  All are welcome, not only for Americans.  Email: awasuva@gmail.com

 

  • CORONA- a charity group that raises funds to support the CWM hospital.  They have monthly coffee meetings to discuss the charity and connect with their members. Mischa Kong, President Corona Worldwide - Fiji Branch, Facebook Group.

  • Inner Wheel (Contact Smeeta Solanki (Ph: 338 5088; smeets_k@hotmail.com; Facebook group).  A recognized NGO by the United Nations, and part of global network Inner Wheel Club worldwide. Functions as a charitable organization, linked to Rotary activities.  Members meet once a month. Venue and date emailed by the Secretary.

     

  • International Women’s Association of Fiji (IWA) is a charity group that raises funds on a yearly basis for local charitable donations.  They organize monthly coffee mornings with guest speakers depending on the focus for that month as well as yearly fund- raising events.

  • PANDORA - Diplomatic women’s group gathers monthly socially and weekly craft sessions to raise money for charity purposes.  Contact UNLESA for more details.

 

 

  • UNLESA Fiji  is a group of spouses of UN International staff members formed under the Global Expatriate Spouse Association in line with the UNDG Joint Guidance Note on the Employment of Expatriate Spouses.  UNLESA Fiji is dedicated to assisting UN international staff and their family settle in Fiji,  connect them to the Suva community and share employment opportunities.  On occasion we have evening social events or coffee mornings to meet new UN family members, share information and connect our members. Social Clubs

 

  • Australian High Commission Social Club (Princes Road, Ph: 338-2211). Drinks on the third Friday of every month.  Late afternoon until late.  Phone the High Commission to get your name added to the list at the gate.

 

  • Fiji Club (1 Selbourne Street, Ph: 330-4118) Restaurant, pool, other club amenities.

 

  • Royal Suva Yacht Club (Queens Road, Korovou, Ph: 331-2921). Pleasant setting by the water, restaurant and bar, happy hours Tuesday and Saturdays.

 

 

  • Suva Bowling Club (corner of Queen Elizabeth Drive and Ratu Cakobau Road, Ph: 330-2394) Bowling greens and a restaurant/bar.  Offers bowling and non-bowling memberships.  Lovely open-air setting beside the sea – a great place to have a drink and watch the sunset.

 

  • Suva Bridge Club (1 Selbourne Street). Meets every Wednesday 9 am to 12 noon, Fiji Club; IWA (Beginner) Bridge meets every Thursday 9 am to 12 noon (Contact Yaoling Ph: 332 2517; martindhyl@connect.com.fj)

 

  • The Defence Club (57 Gordon St; Ph: 330 5038) Membership fee FJD 150 per year for men (special privileges) and women. Bar, popular among locals and ambassadors.
